Almost everyone, at one point or another, has subscribed into a company email list to get more information about something, to get something for free or to be notified of a special offer.
When you subscribe to a direct mailing list, you become a prospect and you are giving that person or company permission to send you emails and they can continue sending you emails until you opt-out or remove yourself from the company email list.

If you join and promote a program, then you are building their list. The program will have it’s own capture page, in which, someone fills out and their information that will go to the programs list. In doing this, their list is being built and not yours.
You see all affiliate programs, MLM opportunities or any money making site will give you what is called a replicated website or capture page. On those sites, there will be a sign up form where people can get more information on the program, product or service.
The program will already have the email messages programmed in for you so all you have to do is promote their page that they give you. Letting this page or program do the rest for you is not the way for you to be building your own list!
This is the quick and easy way and it seems to be a great program, but what do you think happens to the prospect that subscribes and does not buy? These leads that you have promoted to and that has signed up for the information, do not belong to you because they are not in your own personal direct marketing lists.
So, actually, these leads belong to the company that you just helped build their list and they can then send outside offers. These offers will go to all those people that you and everyone else involved with their business has been promoting these replicated pages.
When you have your own personal direct marketing lists program, then you take control. You will be able to promote any affiliate program or product and you can do so on your terms and not the terms of the company you are selling for.

You can if you are with an inadequate autoresponder company and you want to get spam complaints.
Usually when you buy leads being sold online, they are sold multiple times and to hundreds of different people at once. So lets say you buy a lead and it is also sold to several other people and each of you enter this person into your mailing list provider and start sending out emails to him.
That means this poor person is going to be getting a lot of emails from people that he has no clue to who they are or where they are coming from. Then he is going to eventually get fed up with receiving all of these emails and start reporting them as being spam messages.
It does not matter what the companies terms are on about the leads or how much you paid for each one. If your emails get the spam complaint, you will be the one to take the hit and be the one that will suffer the consequences.
This will not only put you in jeopardy of not only losing your mailing list provider, but you could lose your email privileges as well. It does not matter which email service provider that you use, spam complaints from your mailing companies are tied into your personal email account and it will be terminated also.
If you’re mailing companies allows you to import leads, it might be advisable to get a new one, because the delivery of your emails will be minimal and your success will not happen as you are expecting.

The cost of email list brokers plays a big role why someone does not invest in one. They can range in cost from a few dollars to several hundred dollars per month. This could be an issue because you are paying monthly for a service, whether you use it or not.
In not wanting to pay monthly for your personal autoresponder, you can join a program that instructs you to use their replicated sales page that they are providing for you. As you read above, this is an easy way but not a practical one, as you are simply building the list for the program.
Another reason that you may not get your own mailing list provider, is because that you may not think that you need one. Being intimated by setting it up, where it can take a little time to learn how to use. Your investment that you put into it, in both time and expense, will pay for itself a thousand times over from the use of it.
With having your own email program and as you are growing your prospect list, you will be able to send your prospects helpful information on great products. As your list continues to grow so does the amount of money you will make as they continue to buy from you.
Start building your own prospect list and never stop building it! Although this may take some time, it is one of the most important steps that you will do if you want to succeed online.
